From Reischach to Haidenberg

Walking time about 3.5h, altitude difference 900m, level: medium

The walk starts at Valley Station Kronplatz, which is situated only a few steps from our Park Hotel Schönblick. First you follow path number 6 ascending slightly to Korerhof and Oberwelliserhof. From here you will reach guest house Haidenberg following the street Haidenberger-Straße (path number 4, 12); you can choose the marked steep track or the easier forest road. After a well-deserved break at the guest house, you can now return with the forest road. When you reach the cross-road, you will find the marks 12, 4 leading you to the village of Stefansdorf. From here you can simply follow the sidewalk back to Reischach.

From the earth pyramides to Platten

Walking time about 1h, altitude difference 200m, level: easy

The starting point for this simple but rewarding family walk to a local natural phenomenon is the hamlet Platten near the village Oberwielenbach. You can reach the village by car from Reischach in about 20 minutes. Shortly before Platten you will find a place to park your car; on the left of the parking lot a marked path leads to the earth pyramids. After reaching these extraordinary earth formations, which have been created by erosion, simply follow the same way back.

On the lookout Kronplatz

Walking time about 6-7h, altitude difference 1,300m, level: difficult

This tour is meant for fit hikers and leads directly to the peak of Kronplatz where you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views. Start your tour at Park Hotel Schönblick and navigate towards the parking place of the former ski lift Herrnegg; here the so-called „toboggan run“, marked number 1, will lead you uphill to the hut „Bergfreunde“ (E: mountain friends). After a short stop, the walk continues along path number 1 all the way to the peak. To return take the same way back. From June till October the hike can also be shortened by taking the cable car.

Round walk to the forest convent chapel

Walking time about 1h, easy walk

The round walk is situated in the village St. Lorenzen, only a few minutes’ drive from Reischach. Start at the main square in St. Lorenzen and walk towards west along the street or the river Rienz until you reach the cross-road leading to the valley of Gadertal. Here, remaining on the sidewalk, cross the street underground and continue walking along the river, until you pass a wooden footbridge and reach the convent chapel. Here you can either follow the forest path and the corresponding signs to return to the starting point or continue towards Runggen and Montal.

Moarhofalm, Lake Grünbach & Putzenhöhe

Walking time about 5-6h, altitude difference 800m, level: medium-difficult

The starting point to this popular hike can be reached by car in about 20 minutes and is situated at the parking place Gelenke above Hofern (between Pfalzen and Terenten). Here you can choose between the family friendly forest walk or the steeper track number 65 leading towards the alpine cottage Moarhofalm, where you can rest and dine. Afterwards, continue on the same track and reach the picturesque Lake Grünbach. The walk leading up to the saddle is not marked; however, tracks west of the lake can be easily followed. At the top you will again find the red-white marks leading to the peak of Mt. Putzenhöhe. To return follow the same track.
