| | | | | 27.11.2009 - 06.01.2010 CHRISTMAS MARKET IN BRUNICO
There is a very special pre-Christmas atmosphere, when the Graben, a lovely pedestrian area, and the Rathausplatz is shrouded in darkness and the small lane between the little stalls of the Bruneck Christmas market is illuminated by a myriad of lights, when the air is filled with the scent of freshly baked biscuits and you hear some very soft and idyllic music somewhere in the background while skilled local craftsmen are producing a varie- ty of splendid objects such as exceptionally beautiful crèche figures in Father Christmas Workshop. The Christmas market in Bruneck has always been meant to be a small, traditional and pleasant event and as such it has established itself and now occupies a very special place together with the Christmas markets of Bozen, Meran and Brixen. | | | | | 31.12.2009 NEW YEAR'S EVE
In our hotel we will celebrate a very special New Year's Eve with a very well-known, local musical band called 'Cosanostra' from Brunico. Also, there will be a New Year’s torchlight procession and fireworks in Riscone. The exact location and time are not fixed yet. | | | | | 17.01.2010 DUMPLING MARATHON
If you burn off calories, then you’re certainly entitled to eat well. There is no other event which combines sports, incomparably beautiful countryside and unique gastronomic delights better than the Gsies Dumpling Marathon. Sheer pleasure and enjoyment at the beginning of the year! By the way – a small bus will be at the disposal of all gourmets who prefer to come without their skis. | | | | | 18.01.2010 - 20.01.2010 SNOW SCULPTURE FESTIVAL
Cold art - sculptures made of snow. Artists from all over the world are coming together to transform inconspicuous 3 x 3 x 3 m large snow cubes into highly imaginative works of art which develop their very own play of colour in the light of the evening illumination. Barbed wire, saws and shovels are the artists’ only tools. Within three days the cubes have to be chiselled and shaped.
And you, dear audience, play a really essential role: your votes decide which of the ten teams of artists has created the most beautiful of all these marvellous yet unfortunately ephemeral works of art. The snow sculpture festival will stop off in S. Vigilio di Marebbe. . | | | | | 19.01.2010 - 24.01.2010 BIATHLON WORLD CUP

After the European Championships in 2005 and the European Cups in 2006 and 2008, 2010 will reunite the horn sledge racing élite at the "Panorama" run in Olang for the European Horn Sledge Cup finals. Expected are around 30 teams from 5 different countries. Each team consists of 3 athletes, whose collaboration is the key to a top performance.
For the audience, this spectacular sports discipline is pure action. The large crowd and the fantastic atmosphere at the races in recent years is a worthy reward for the dedicated athletes, who put a great deal of effort and enthusiasm into their passion. Horn sledges were originally used for working and transportation purposes, but at a racing speed of up to 90 km/h, the sport has added a touch of danger to an old tradition. | | | | | 13.02.2010 - 14.02.2010 EUROPEAN SLEDDING GRAND PRIX
The absolute highlight of competitive sledding is coming to Olang: the 2010 European Sledding Grand Prix, Europe's only international sledding race . Competitive sledding has become increasingly popular in recent years, and sledges have developed into sophisticated and technically elaborate sports devices. If it all started off as a simple leisure activity, for which passionate lugers dusted off their sledges at the sight of the first snowflakes to speed down snowy forest and hiking trails, times have changed indeed: Modern-day race tracks are iced just as natural luge tracks are and require a top physical condition as well as regular, hard training. Only that way are athletes able to keep up and prove their sledding skills in winter. | | | | | 20.02.2010 - 21.02.2010 INTERCONTINENTAL LUGE CUP
2010 will not only see the European Horn Sledge Cup finals and the European Sledding Grand Prix take place in Olang, but also another international luge race: the Intercontinental Cup finals.
The Intercontinental Luge Cup is another series of international races beside the natural track luge World Cup. In terms of importance, it can be compared to the European Cups of other sports disciplines. Olang has hosted several international luge races on its first-class "Panorama" run: the 2000 World Championships, the 2008 European Championship and a number of World Cups. It is the ideal place for large-scale events and no doubt the stronghold of sledding and luging in South Tyrol and the Pustertal valley. As the events' official host, the Olang Amateur Sports Club is looking forward to welcoming both athletes and visitors and delighted to guarantee three weeks of pure sledding bliss. | | | | | 21.03.2010 - 28.03.2010 NOSTALGIA

A whole week in the Holiday Region Kronplatz, especially dedicated to the ancient times – a week which emerges nostalgic feelings. | | | | | 18.04.2010 "LOCKNFESCHT"
After one year’s pause it will be staged again, this unique, unparalleled event on Kronplatz – the “Locknfescht”. This soaking wet spectacle shall mark the end of the skiing season with participants jumping into the cold water. It all started over a decade ago when a group of locals tried to cross the small pond, which forms from the melted snow in the Seewiese on Kronplatz every spring. Over the past twelve years the big puddle has grown bigger and bigger since it has been fed with additional amounts of water. The pond and the event have become famous far beyond the borders of South Tyrol. The Locknfescht is a most crazy event indeed. Cars without wheels, beds, bath tubs, sky rockets, desks, deckchairs and parasols, compositions of tyres, semi-nudes or fully uniformed daredevils as well as an abundance of rideable, slideable or rollable vehicles have all come down the slope and tried to make their way over the pond. It goes without saying that the event is always spiced up by hip music and plenty to eat and drink! | | | | |
