| | | | | INTERNATIONAL CHOIR FESTIVAL : 23 - 27 JUNE 2010
During the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival thousands of singers transform the venues for this event into a colourful sea of costumes.The festival is taking place for the 13th time, with Olang and Bruneck having first staged it in 2004. In Bruneck the concerts will take place in the Ragen House, Michael Pacher House, the Ursuline Church and the Parish Church. Choirs will also appear on the summit of the Kronplatz. At the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival it’s all about the music every summer, with 90 choirs presenting folk and mountain climbing songs, spirituals and operatic arias in a number of locations around the Upper Puster Valley. It’s that time of the year again! For the 28th consecutive year South Tyrol is set to stage the South Tyrol Alto Adige Jazz Festival. For ten days a varied programme of internationally famous jazz greats will make the hearts of music lovers beat that little bit faster. In addition to the regional capital of Bolzano, Sterzing, Brixen, Bruneck and Merano will also play host to jazz events during the ten days from 25th June to 4th July. The town of Bruneck will sparkle with extraordinary musicians and ensembles thanks to the summer concerts which are taking place this year for the 30th time. The Bruneck Summer Concerts in the Ragen House’s Renaissance arcade courtyard have an unforgettable atmosphere that fires the imagination of famous artists as much as it will thrill you to hear the wonderful sounds that they make. The Bruneck/Brunico Farmers’ Market is now 13 years old. It is held every year from June till October at the “Graben” in Bruneck-Brunico on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. About ten farmers from the area offer their products for sale , like vegetables, fruits, juices, grains, cheese, bacon, meat, and freerange eggs as well as herbal products and traditional farm bread... and more ...
| | | | | KRONPLATZ RUN & BIKE : 18 and 19 SEPTEMBER
On the mountain where you ski downhill in the winter, there will be a first class event during the summer. On Saturday there will be the first international Run & Bike competition on the Kronplatz. The run starts in town, at the hall square of Bruneck, then uphill through a few villages to the Furkelpass and finally up to the summit of the Kronplatz (2275m). The overall mileage in our beautiful nature is 31 km with 1.622m altitude difference. Sunday belongs then completely to the Mountainbikers who have to master the same distance up to the summit. The highlight of the Run & Bike competition is the distribution of prizes and the celebration of the winners on the summit with 360 degrees of panorama. More information under www.kronplatzrun.com
| | | | | CASTLE CITY RACE
Once again the soap box derby takes place just beneath the Castle Mountain of Bruneck. Thousands of visitors followed this great event in the last years. Lots of hobbyists were screwing, sawing and hammering weeks before the actual race in order to put together their unique vehicle. Their aim is to construct their soap boxes as streamlined as possible without engine and to master the race track as good as possible. | | | | | CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL
Artists as well as sculptors are going to prove their artistic skills and mould sculptures out of chocolate right along the main road of Welsberg-Monguelfo. The history and production of chocolate is explained at the various sales stalls. Tasting of different types of chocolate and chocolate massages will satisfy chocolate lovers. Even a chocolate fountain will be set up. Not to be missed!
| | | | | THE MOUNTAIN HUT FESTIVAL : SEPTEMBER
It has become a cult event – the Gsies mountain hut festival. We will celebrate Holy Mass on the mountain at 11 am and then walk uphill to the various alp huts, where you will be spoilt for gastronomic choice. Polenta with goulash, traditional Pressknödel (cheese dumplings), Speckknödel (bacon dumplings) with pickled cabbage , smoked pork sausages, traditional deep-fried cakes such as Niggilan and Krapflan.… delicious!

You will find them all there: the roasted chestnut vendors, the ladies selling clothes, the leather jacket merchants, the beggar with his dancing toy monkey, the men at the cheese and the mulled wine and sausage stands, a few cattle merchants, the flashing lights from the funfair... something for all the senses!
